there was no problem with me, in fact thanks for providing it on a time where my computer was causing a lot of trouble with bad memory and keyboard (a laptop). The request was done since I read the complains you got about the package.

Submited to AUR grub-gfx-0.97

A good side effect of the name change is that in case a new grub legacy version became available, it will not replace our splash version.

If I had been aware of complaints then I would have changed it ... I did not set notify (my fault!)

Still use it as it is with the PKGBUILD from the 1st post. Here an example i built thanks to devianart.com (the redish old car shines when my laptop boots up !)

grub-gfx is in unsupported. You'll never see it with pacman.
You must build the package manually.

Enjoy!
P.S.: if there will be any updates - please add them to Wiki too.[/url]

I've just posted it to Wiki:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Graphical_GRUB
Romashka, I've found a newer grub graphical patch then grub-0.96-graphics.patch, which is an updated version for grub-0.97. (found 'grub-0.97-graphics.patch.bz2' in Mandriva/MDK's rpm of grub-0.97-13mdk.src.rpm [1])
... if someone where intressted in running a more recent patch then the one for 0.96.
PS. the .rpm contains a few other patches aswell, have a look.

You should update the first post to reflect the changes. It's not the grub-gfx PKGBUILD there. I used the one linked to in this thread. And run into problems when grub was updated today.
I got error 15 before grub was loaded. Had to use the installation cd to install grub over again.

I moved my /boot partition from /dev/hda6 to /dev/hda12.
I just copied the content, and updated the fstab. When rebooting I get
Error 15
at stage 1.5. No missing file is specified. I have tryed to reinstall grub-gfx, but when I run
# install-grub /dev/hda
I get
Error: could not convert device to grub format: /dev/hda12
Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong, and how to fix it?

What does the 'grub-install /dev/hda' command result in?

I reinstalled the original Grub version from Arch install cd. Then it did work.
So I just have to reinstall the grub-gfx version again, and I hope I'll be fine.

You'd be well advised to chroot into Arch after you reinstall and make sure you can get the 'grub-install' command to finish properly. That way you will know if there is still a problem.

AUR's PKGBUILD requires grub-gfx.install which is not available
==> ERROR: install scriptlet (grub-gfx.install) does not exist.
Please where is it located ?
Also menu.lst as provided still shows
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26
initrd /boot/initrd26.img
