ArchLinux is a binary distro.
You'll find sources in AUR only!

By not using an AUR helper that wraps around pacman, you'll give yourself time to learn how Arch Linux and the AUR work.

For instance, I installed r which looks like it's shipped as binary, but r-mkl got compiled from source code (taking a long time)
Let me guess :
you are NOT using pacman to maintain your system but some other command ?
I estimate there's a 99.99999% chance you're using an unsupported aur helper without realising it.
Read https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AUR_helpers and think hard about the text in the first red box (and follow the link in it) .
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
(A works at time B) && (time C > time B ) ≠ (A works at time C)
