Screen flashes black in between login and KDE desktop

This isn't a game-breaking problem, but it's aesthetically annoying and I'd like to find the cause of it.

When I type my login info. into SDDM, I see Plasma's loading screen (as I should!)—then the screen goes black for about a second, and then the desktop is loaded.

I see various KDE related warnings but nothing obvious:

Anyone have any idea where/why this could be happening? Or is it a kind of nebulous thing that any one of these above warnings could be the cause of? It's not even clear to me that this behavior would cause an error/warning, but it seems like the type of thing that would.

Are the screen configurations between SDDM and KDE/KScreen the same? Do you use more than 60Hz refresh rate once in the session? You could avoid an unnecessary modeset by making sure these settings are aligned. You should also test whether it's a quirk of the KDE splash screen by disabling the splash screen.
