Re: Closed: Is my GPU dying?

Hold on, that kinda hinges on what driver kubuntu was really using.
If you're running on the VESA driver or nouveau or fbdev, it's a meaningless test and the GPU is probably fried.
If it's actually on a brand new nvidia driver ( 314xx? 296xx? wink ) and the 3D core of the GPU is in active use, i'd not write an obituary - yet.

Re: Closed: Is my GPU dying?

I'm out of luck today, my blue-ray driver damaged the live DVD and now I have I/O errors when I try to boot from it again hmm but I am 99.9999% sure that there were no nvidia drivers on that live DVD, surely general purpose live DVD's would not run nvidia drivers by default..?

I have a stash of old DVD's in the attic, I should have more live DVD's there. I'll order new GPU anyways, and will check on this one for fun.

I downgraded the system to 2nd of January 2020 and I'm still seeing artifacts as soon as nvidia modules get loaded. I'm convinced this card is broken, I was actively updating the system and never experienced issues with this GPU in 2020.
