(for the forum mods i mentioned manjaro, kind of muscle memory i dont use manjaro anymore but used to. this error occurred there btw but i dont remember the fix, seems like its repeatable soo my bad)
recently i have been running into issues while screwing around with optimus manager on my laptop. the main issue is once the pc start on the login screen it is black, which i naturally solve by just typing my password blindly and it can log in. all of the icons seem to be very large and the font size too.
I use KDE with SDDM/xorg, Kwin for window manager.
here are some outputs for xrandr and lspci (ill also add a few additional details at the bottom)

more details:
i was screwing around with xrandr here, tried to overclock my monitor from 60hz to 75hz but failed. i decided to use optimus-manager to switch to nvidia, i modified the config to add the following to the config file:
[optimus]
startup=nvidia
then after restarting i got the issues mentioned.
i tried changing my global theme from my custom one to the default breeze but no changes happened. the global scale is already at 100% and i cant lower it more. i used the custom icons NeonIcons with the Wings-Dark-Aurorae window decoration, i didnt touch fonts but they are also massive. when i switch to different icons/fonts/decorations the size is still massive.
help is appreciated and thanks

Remove optimus-manager, xf86-video-nouveau and any xorg.conf you might have generated and follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PRIME# … er_offload

should i be taking any precautions before shooting down all the configs? i dont exactly remember generating my own configs but probably they were messed with. so should i regenerate before rebooting or is it fine

just removing optimus manager solved the issue thanks. as for the reason why it happened i still have no clue
