How to add Yakuake to Alt+Tab switching menu

By default the terminal emulator Yakuake is not shown in the application switching menu (Alt+Tab) in KDE Plasma. Would it be possible to add it there? How do I do that? Thank you!

why? The point of yakuake is to be a dropdown window you can invoke via a dedicated shortcut in whichever context you are in?

I know, you are right. But sometimes, I find it helpful to switch context with Alt+Tab.

nb. that even if this works, it'll imply that the window also shows up in the taskbar

Thank you for your suggestion. Please check my edits. I tried executing:

wmctrl -x -r yakuake -b remove,skip_taskbar

But it didn't have any effect. I attempted to prefix it with sudo, but it didn't change anything.

Stop yellung sudo when stuff doesn't work - that's a recipe for disaster.

You can expect the command to remove the _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR flag, check xprop on whether it does.
This does unfortunately not guarantee that the WM tracks _NET_WM_STATE in general or the flag in particular.
Can you activate the window w/ 

wmctrl -xa yakuake

Thank you for your suggestions! I can confirm, the _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR flag is deactivated with:

wmctrl -x -r yakuake -b remove,skip_taskbar

However, executing

wmctrl -xa yakuake

does not make Yakuake appear in the context switching menu (Alt+Tab).

It's not supposed to make it "appear in the context switching menu (Alt+Tab)" (whatever that is) but to show and focus the window.

Yakuake probably destroys and re-creates the window, for a sanity check

xwininfo

on yakuake, but regardless whether it's override redirect or recreated, you'll not be getting it into the list of managed windows - therefore not into the tabbox.
Unless you patch yakuake or it has a relevant option.

That's not very likely, but it means that yakuake recreates the window every time you open it (I assume the _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR flag re-appears?)

You'll have to look around whether yakuake allows you to run it as a somewhat more normal window.
With its current behavior, you'll otherwise not be able to get it into the tabbox w/o patching yakuake.
