[solved] Some keys stop working

I noticed that since yesterday some keys on my laptop stopped working. I haven't installed or made any changes to my system (other than updates). About the problem:

- Happens randomly: sometimes the key works again, sometimes it stops.
- Not for all keys: for example, up arrow doesn't work, but down arrow does.
- I noticed yesterday when I was using vscode and the opening bracket key stopped working, but it could happen sooner. I can't say exactly.

My laptop is Acer Aspire A515-51G and I am using 6.1.11-arch1-1. I don't know what extra information to provide, but I'll answer any questions that might help find the problem.

Re: [solved] Some keys stop working

Did you try the HW on a different OS (live distro like eg. grml)?

Re: [solved] Some keys stop working

I just tried it on pop-os_22.04 on a USB stick and it happens too. Could it be something with gnome or x11? Or maybe a hardware problem.

Extremely likely  this.

You can also test the keyboard behavior in the UEFI/BIOS, but

- Happens randomly: sometimes the key works again, sometimes it stops.
- Not for all keys: for example, up arrow doesn't work, but down arrow does.

is unlikely to be caused by a failed handover to the OS.
It's the HW.

Re: [solved] Some keys stop working

It also happens in the BIOS menu. Sadly I think this is the case. Thank you.
