I have an old PC that I want to turn into a server. I can't use an Ethernet cable, router is far away. I don't have an external Wi-Fi adapter, So my only solution was to use my phone as an adapter and use USB tethering to get connection on my PC. Now that I have connection on my PC I want to ping my PC from my Laptop. I ran ip address command and checked the private IP on the PC, then I tried to ping that IP on my laptop, But It just hanged, There was no output from "ping" command. I tried pinging my laptop from my PC and it works, I tried pinging archlinux.org from my PC and it works, I tried pinging archlinux.org from my laptop and it works...
I don't understand why I cant ping my PC. Its connected to the same network isn't it?
Also this is my first time on the forums and please tell me if I'm not following any rules or something's wrong with my post. Only way this post is related to Arch Linux is that both devices run it, I don't know if it belongs here.

You're asking us? ![]()
ip a; ip r on both machines.
Also the IP you try to ping.
The phone might block/filter ICMP requests, though. Or generally implement some sort of firwall.

I guess a USB wifi dongle would be more cost effective and less interfering?
