ive googled a bit although i am still a complete idiot
idk enough to do this on my own so how do i set up a webcam with internal microphone and an internal sound card.
what i've done:
ive used both pulseaudio and alsa (separately) to determine the cards and i have a good knowledge of how the channels work (i think) but this does not solve the issue as only one sound card is used at a time
ive used paprefs to use simultaneous outputs, this kills the audio but gets the video working, and the microphone works more than before, online tests (because the audio wasnt working so i couldn't play back anything i recorded) said it only detected one tone.
i need to get this working soon, i have telatherapy in 4 days and i do not want to revert to windows for it. I have absolutely no idea what to do and im smart enough to understand the code behind the other posts of similar nature.

pls explain a little bit more in detail what are you trying to achive. i didnt understand the problem in getting a webcam and a soundcard working.
And maybe you need pavucontrol instead of paprefs?

Only one is working at a time, i am trying to get all inputs working on one, it does not have any outputs. And getting the outputs working on the other. It isn't utilizing them both at the same time.
i'll look into pavucontrol.

Yeah i was just being an idiot pavucontrol did it. ran the diagnostic test on my telatherapy website and it seems good to go for wednesday, thank you for the suggestion.
