Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hi everyone!

I'm a normal college student. For the past year, I've come to hate windows for multiple reasons and switched to linux.
I went ubuntu -> manjaro -> fedora -> pop os -> arch with gnome -> and finally im here at arch with dwm.
It was very fun learning linux and installing arch and dwm.

Hope we get along big_smile

Hello everyone!

Joel from Sweden.  Distro hopped abit and recently came from PopOs!.   Tried out Arch for the first time last year but had a hard time getting things to run the way I wanted.
I am a newbie for sure but I love it how fast and responsive Arch seams to be.  Trying to learn coding so thought that learning Arch side by side could get me enough headache smile

See you around!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello everyone!

Loemre from Germany here. I just switched to Arch from different systems. Recently I am coming from Solus OS, a system I really liked but since it seems a bit discontinued (I know that there are people working hard on it, but the last version turns two this year) it was time to switch to arch. The community was already quite helpful a lot when working on other Linux distros and I want a customizable rolling release, so there was no question but finally come to the Arch side. Beforehand I experimented with some VM versions of Arch, but never had the "full" experience, so I am really a newbie (and sadly enough will already ask my first question in another thread..).
I currently work as a software developer and use Linux there as well in my everyday job, hopefully I can switch to Arch there soon as well.

Hello there!

Pierre from France smile

I use mainly GNU/Linux since 2006. I started my journey as a many with Ubuntu, then I switched to Arch Linux, then Ubuntu, aaand I came back to Arch in the late 2021 to have a try with pipewire. I didn't leave it since.

I have to say I'm impressed by the stability of this distribution as a rolling release, and plus the existence of the AUR packages. From my point of view, it makes is the most pleasant desktop/laptop OS I know.

Great job, thanks to the community!

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello everyone!

Since I discovered Arch Linux my computer works perfectly.

It should be said that I am quite a minimalist and I only install what I really need.

I've only been using it for 3 months, I hope to learn a lot from your comments.

Greetings

Hey hackers, I have been using endeavourOS for a few months now and I love it. Have tried red hat, ubuntu, mint, and puppy and this is by far my favorite.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello every Arch user on the planet,

I'm from Romania.
I love and support Arch Linux because I am anti-corruption and against lack of education, against the easy ways of doing things, when I was younger I used to use cheats in games, now I understand the importance of difficulties in our life. I will not sell myself and my freedom for any amount of "anything".I am switching to Arch Linux after years of Windows, and i see hardware of my pc and my soul, breathing free of Microsoft background unwanted services. I just hope that this mentality will not disappear in the future. Easy life sucks for our mind.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello all!
I've been using Arch for almost two years for work, and yes, I started from zero knowledge about Linux. tongue
Now I can say that thanks to this distro, I am learning and still learning how a Linux operating system really works and receive a lot of reasons for not use proprietary software.
And even if I already had some bad issues that took me a lot of patience and time, I still say that I would never change because after those events I learned every time something new.
I am grateful for this big community, the huge knowledge and the collaboration.

P.s. Glad to write on the 300th page, lol. big_smile

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hey there, new to linux as whole, decided to go with arch because I'd rather have the crash course than deal with half automated distros.

Anyway, glad to see linux community is strong as ever.

Re: The Official Hello Everyone Thread

Hello Arch community!

For the last year I have been immersed in Linux and more specifically Arch Linux. I've been installing Arch from ArcolinuxD (Decision), and from scratch using archinstall or manually following the Arch guide. Finally, I managed to install an operating system with my own configuration and automate the post-installation process with scripts. In the future I would like to automate the whole installation or create my own distribution based on Arch, but archinstall works for me for now.

Arch Linux is a great project and one of the things I like the most is that you learn a lot in the process. After reading a lot of the Arch wiki I come here to find solutions to my doubts and to learn.

Hey ya'll,

I'm a noob to Arch Linux, but not to Linux. My Linux of choice is Gentoo, Slackware before that. I decided to installed Arch for my video editing rig opposed to Gentoo.

Peace!
