Firefox delay on startup due to 'option mesa_glthread overriden'

Hello everyone,

Whenever I start up firefox and no firefox windows are open, it starts up with a few seconds of delay.

Running firefox from the terminal, it prints the following message 4 times before opening firefox:
"ATTENTION: default value of option mesa_glthread overriden by environment."

My guess is that this is what's causing the slow start up.

After at least one firefox client is open, new firefox windows open without delay.

I'm running on a thinkpad p1 gen3, with the NVIDIA Quadro T1000, and have nvidia, nvidia-utils, nvidia-settings, mesa and mesa-utils installed.

Some google searches point to it being a bug form firefox's side: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1744389, but I was hopping that I could do something about it since the delay when starting firefox is a bit annoying.

Probably not. How many seconds is "a few seconds of delay"?
5? 10? 25? 60? 90?

Not that many, between 1 and 2. The reason why I believe that might be it is because when I run firefox from the terminal, it only opens after the messages are printed.

However, it may very well be that they are simply printed after something else (which is causing the delay) has finished loading.

A new firefox master process will load your profile, extensions and possibly libraries from the disk and probably phones home.
Of course that's not as fast as simply creating a new window (nvme or not)
