[SOLVED] EXT4 file system error

I powered it on and then got stuck at "Starting systemd-udevd version 252.4-2" during the boot process.
Then I booted an installation ISO and mounted the ext4 partition which is /dev/sdb2 (sdb1 is the boot partition).
A few seconds after mounting, the terminal printed an error message.

32 root@archiso ~ # mount /dev/sdb2 /mnt
root@archiso ~ # [ 800.644342] EXT4-fs error (device sdb2): ext4_mb_generate_buddy:1095: group 325, block bitmap and bg descriptor inconsistenc: 3583 vs 3584 free clusters
[ 800.689092] EXT4-fs error (device sdb2): ext4_mb_generate_buddy:1095: group 1777, block bitmap and bg descriptor inconsistenc: 15 vs 16 free clusters
[ 800.704663] EXT4-fs error (device sdb2): ext4_mb_generate_buddy:1095: group 2215, block bitmap and bg descriptor inconsistenc: 1606 vs 1589 free clusters
[ 800.717117] EXT4-fs error (device sdb2): ext4_mb_generate_buddy:1095: group 3042, block bitmap and bg descriptor inconsistenc: 20625 vs 22690 free clusters
[ 800.727577] EXT4-fs error (device sdb2): ext4_mb_generate_buddy:1095: group 3560, block bitmap and bg descriptor inconsistenc: 11997 vs 11999 free clusters

From what I've seen before, this seems to be a file system error. Can this be fixed? neutral

Notes: This Arch install is about 6 months old. I keep the system up to date. The system is installed in a KingSpec 500GB SATA SSD.

Re: [SOLVED] EXT4 file system error

Check/post the output of

smartctl -a /dev/sdb

, if that comes out ok (to be extra sure maybe also run a long test on it with smartctl -t long /dev/sdb and wait for the estimated time of completion to elapse before checking/posting smartctl -a again)

In the event that this comes up "safe" you can try to fsck the partition.

Re: [SOLVED] EXT4 file system error

I ran the long test. This is the output of smartctl -a /dev/sdb

Re: [SOLVED] EXT4 file system error

Have you run fsck on the unmounted partition yet?

Re: [SOLVED] EXT4 file system error

Solved. I ran fsck manually (it would output an error message if i ran it with the -p flag).
