Hi all,
I recently acquired a new speaker that has a 24/48K usb audio input.
Sadly, it seems to recognized by the system, but no sound is actually heard. I'd be awesome if anyone could help me debug/fix it.

Have you tried playing to the analog device? How this is logically handled from your device can sometimes be unclear so even if you think you use all digital outs on the actual receiver end it can very well be that it will only do internal transformation and generally expect an analog stream.
Regarding the aplay confusion that is to be expected as the audio you are playing is S16_LE yet the interface only provides . Forcing a certain signedness only works for sources you actually generate from the aether or using the plughw:1 device to do conversion.

All your volumes here are very low and you are piping things through an easy effects filter, what happens if you up those volumes everywhere, play directly to the device? Did you make sure that there's no HW button/wheel or similar that is muted ? From general logistics you are now playing to the analog integrated device. What happens if you do
pactl move-sink-input 146 alsa_output.usb-Kali_Kali_IN-UNF_A02008040114-00.iec958-stereo
note the 146 can and will change, double check pactl list sink-inputs for the sink to move. Are there any messages in dmesg/the journal when playback fails (not from wireplumber, these should be from snd-usb-audio)? If the explicit switch doesn't work, one thing you could try is loading snd-usb-audio with implicit_fb=0

I tried upping everything as high as it'll go, and moved the sinks with pactl and pavucontrol as you suggested. No sound...
My best guess is that the problem is in the alsa or snd_usb_audio side.

Then I tried setting implicit_fb=1 (I don't know what this does but it seemed to help other people/cards) but it doesn't seem to stick as the interface still shows
