Next to the bisecting kernels, try to suspend and wake the system and see whether the drive shows up.

Re: [SOLVED] SSD drive disappeared after upgrade to linux-6.2.1.arch1-1

I have exactly the same problem after system upgrade today.

I have similar configuration: main NVM drive where root folder is and secondary SATA 3 drive (Samsung) where /home folder is mounted.
After upgrade to Linux 6.2.1 the SATA drive is not visible on boot and can't be mounted.

Hardware is the same regarding SATA controller:
lspci -vvvk -s 10000:e0:17

The laptop is Acer A514, I don't have settings related SATA and AHCI in the BIOS even in extended mode. In Windows other partition from SATA drive is mounted and works well. But Samsung Magican application in Windows shows that AHCI for it is disabled (not sure why).

Seems will have to rollback to previous Linux kernel version but hope that this issue will be fixed.

Re: [SOLVED] SSD drive disappeared after upgrade to linux-6.2.1.arch1-1

What if you boot one-time (edit "on-the -fly" the cmdline from your BootLoader) with noapic acpi=off kernel parameters?
If that will let the kernel show up your sda, post here:

# journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

noapic and noacpi didn't help - the same result as before. With acpi=off it didn't even start booting.

Re: [SOLVED] SSD drive disappeared after upgrade to linux-6.2.1.arch1-1

1. Please use code tags, https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode
2. Don't empty-post "#metoo"
3. loqs shared a bunch of bisecting kernels and I asked multiple times to test whether the ssd shows up after an S3 (and thins being a race condition)

Experiencing the exact same problem on a HP Pavilion 14-dv0589na laptop. Had to roll kernel back, as /sysroot was failing to mount...

Recently there was this change for Linux kernel, it might be a cause of the issue, because all customers had issues with Intel Corporation Tiger Lake-LP SATA Controller

Chanow claims in the referenced post that the problem exists on 6.1.13.1-lts. Kernel version 6.1.12 is mentioned as "the last version to work properly" on that post. I'm inclined to believe the change that broke Tiger Lake happened between 6.1.12 and 6.1.13.

What if the kernel parameter libata.force=nolpm is added?
Edit:
If that does not work what about reverting 104ff59af73aba524e57ae0fef70121643ff270e

I just tried it on 6.1.13.1-lts and doesn't seem to change anything.

The results I have up to now point to changes between 6.1.12 and 6.1.13. I have not posted the output from dmesg and lspci, as they are quite similar to ones posted by andertalez and Blitz67.

It's simple to manually install the package, same as if it were locally built:

 pacman -U <package file (.pkg.tar.zst)>

Re: [SOLVED] SSD drive disappeared after upgrade to linux-6.2.1.arch1-1

Concerned patch looks like "ahci.mobile_lpm_policy=1" would be relevant?

I really wish i could, but my linux skills are limited and don't go that far.

It's simple to manually install the package, same as if it were locally built:

 pacman -U <package file (.pkg.tar.zst)>

It requires *.sig files to install, do you have them or how to generate?

Indeed.
Anyway, you'll find 'em next-to .pkg.tar.zst inside ArchLinux's Archive.

If I recall correctly you can disable local file sig checks with this option in the pacman config:

LocalFileSigLevel = Optional

I may recall incorrectly though

What if the kernel parameter libata.force=nolpm is added?

If that does not work what about reverting 104ff59af73aba524e57ae0fef70121643ff270e

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xx0Hd5 … share_link linux-headers-6.2.1.arch1-9-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

Downloaded this version of 6.2.1, seems without recent commit related Tiger Lake SATA controller, installed and it works !!!
System is booting well, secondary SATA disk is found and mounted.
Thank you!

BTW, sorry, it doesn't require SIG files, I tried to install by using file:// prefix before (from Arch manual), but actually it must be without it.

In case anyone still has an unpatched kernel around, please try passing "ahci.mobile_lpm_policy=1" to the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters

I'll second that, it worked!

This forum seems to have nailed it, especially loqs and andertalez. Hope the results of this thread will reflect on next versions of the kernel.

Thanks emmixis, on hindsight I thought it would be a lot more complicated.

As mentioned by others, I just edited /etc/pacman.conf to change SigLevel to reflect the absence of the signature file.

Anyway I will be returning to 6.1.12.arch1-1 until the next 6.2 kernel gets this dealt with.

Don't hold your breath - the patch only hooks TL into an existing feature.

Undo that.
"pacman -U" doesn't require any kind of signature files.
