Entrance and E17 problems

Yesterday I've uninstalled KDE and all stuff that's related to that. Than I tried to install e17 + entrance. After install and setup I'm still having the same problem:

libedje.so.0 - error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file:No such file or directory

It's hapenning all the time even when cache's  has been cleaned,
pacman -Scc didn't help at all. My personal opinion is that it has something to do with KDE(even its not installed maybe some packages got corrupted).
Another point some problems with fonts were there as well but I couldn't get those(write it down). Can someone help me please or do I have to reinstall everything?

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

Do you have edje installed?
If not get it from AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=1&ID=834

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

I never installed any extra packages, just had to play around with /etc/ld.so.conf a tad and rerun ldconfig.

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

Solved   lol  lol  lol  lol  lol

The remedy is to allow the user by changing the rights of entrance:

For newbies like me my first small wiki wink :
su

cd /opt/e17/bin/

than:

chmod a=rx entrance

logout actually I've rebooted and enjoy
lol  lol  lol

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

Hey guys I was having this issue after a fresh install of arch, and just fixed it. Maybe my fix will work for you.

It seems entrance was looking for the X server executable in /usr/X11R6/bin/X.
With the new arrangement of Xorg, the X executable is in /usr/bin/X.

The solution was to make a link in /usr/X11R6 that points to /usr/bin:

ln -s /usr/bin /usr/X11R6/bin

If you don't have the directory /usr/X11R6, make it first then use the
above command to create the symlink.

You can just add 'entranced' to the daemons array in /etc/rc.conf, or you can add it to /etc/inittab.

This worked for entrance-cvs 20060425-1 out of "fouiny_repo."

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

I just found out that the solution I posted above is already documented in
the Xorg7 wiki page in a section about KDM/GDM, but the same thing applies
to entrance.

Here's a link if anyone thinks they can glean more info from there:

5.6 KDM/GDM doesn't work

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

For the record, I'm currently in the process of updating/fixing the entrance package (and its depends) from the community repo. I'm patching the source code so the links would no longer be necessary. It will be available in  a few days (or a week)  as I still haven't tested it fully.

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

Hello,

Is it fixed now ?
Because I can launch entrance but nothing happens ... and if a few minutes later I check if it's still running ... well... actually it seems to have crashed ...

Thanks

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

It was fixed a while ago (it's an old thread), perhaps there's a new problem. I'll need to check it. BTW, how do you start entrance? Do you use the entranced daemon or do you start it with inittab?

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

Entrance works fine here. Is your system up-to-date? If not, you'll need to update it.

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

I have E17 up and running fine and Entrance loads fine however I cannot authenticate using root or my account. I replaced the exec enlightenment_start with entrance).

-NOTE : I have it working, sort of a user cannot initiate entrace so I removed and added the line to the /etc/X11/xinitrc. It brings up and authenticates but now I'm getting another error.

Re: Entrance and E17 problems

First, you shouldn't modify  /etc/X11/xinitrc.

To start entrance, either use the entranced daemon script (add it to DAEMONS in rc.conf) or start entrance with inittab:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Startup_files

It's also possible that root login is disabled for security reasons. You shouldn't run the X server as root.
