Hi,
seem to be getting on ok with my new Arch system (the documentation is pretty decent), but I'm getting a weird problem with Azureus. I click on it, and it takes literally 5 mins to start up!
Once it's started up it's fine, and I get very high download speeds (unlike some of the other people on this forum it would seem), but it takes 5 mins before the splash screen appears :?
has anyone else seen this problem?

You mean literally 5 minutes? Up to 30 seconds is normal, but 5 minutes is definitely not. Is there any unusual output when you start it from a console?
Offline
yes - literally 5 minutes
when I start it from the command line I get this message
StartSocket: passing startup args to already-running Azureus java process listening on [127.0.0.1: 6880]
Eventually I get a SocketException as it times out.
I presume something else is using port 6880. Does anyone know what this is or how I can find out? Why is Azurerus trying to use 6880, I can't see anywhere where this can be changed?

I think that port needs to be open because thats the port which bittorrent travels through. Changing it may conflict with other bittorrent clients.

OK - if anyone is interested I got this fixed.
torrent traffic doesn't use port 6880, but Azureus is trying to connect to localhost on 6880.
I realised that nothing could connect on port 6880! looking in my rc.conf I noticed that the loopback interface was uncommented
thanks everyone
