Is there a way to test hal? need to figure out why ipod has just stopped working?

Does the daemon start ?

/etc/rc.d/hal start stop or restart
gives me fail
running ipod gives me nothing ....

try running
hal-device | less
then page through to see if it detects your ipod

guess it does ....emmmm

gktpod works with my ipod ... put music videos etc on it np
created a udev rule to make ipod node in /dev
then when I plug in ipod I use pmount /dev/ipod to get it to /media
Worked fine with banshee up to a couple of weeks ago then banshee does not see ipod anymore
Not tried in Amarok waaay too big app...
@Snarkout does your ipod show up in lsusb .....?
