EDIT: The black screen is a tty, so I can switch ttys and at least do terminal work, but the point is to have a few-click GUI solution (btrfs-assistant) recommended in the arch wiki.
---
Fresh bare metal install, installed and did rudimentary configuring of snapper and grub-btrfs per guidance here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/snapper. Can create/delete and undochange of snapshots. Snapshots show in grub as expected.
However, booting a snapshot appears to load normally (there's output and stuff like usual) but it ends on a black screen where I'd expect the DM. Here, pressing ctrl+alt+del reboots the system.

Please note where this is posted. It's possible (expected, frankly) that I failed to understand all the instructions sufficiently to perform them. It's also possible that I'm legitimately not very smart so despite my best efforts in reading the guide, referencing its supplementary links, and doing my due diligence by searching for external guides and and utilizing all troubleshooting options (including chatGPT, bing chat, and bard, which have been INSANELY helpful), I may just not be able to understand what I'm supposed to do. So please don't comment if you just want to make me feel dumb for being imperfect. Again, this is posted in an area where people by definition are going to need extra help.

Did you set up the overlayfs? You need to add grub-btrfs-overlayfs to your hooks and rebuild the initramfs as described here: https://github.com/Antynea/grub-btrfs/b … /readme.md
