[Solved] Hashcat GPU

Hi, I have a problem with displaying the GPU with hashcat, I've tried a thousand ways by downloading and removing packages and seeing various forums to try to solve, I'm not very familiar with Linux and I would like some help, with hashcat -I it exits cuInit() error: no CUDA-capable device is detected.
I tried to install CUDA but it doesn't solve it, I installed the nvidia drivers but nothing, and finally I tried to install nvidia-msi but it can't find the package. how could i fix?

Re: [Solved] Hashcat GPU

hashcat requires very specific drivers to use specific GPU hardware.
Please post the full output of lspci -k to give us an idea of your hardware and kernel modules in use.

Re: [Solved] Hashcat GPU

For such output use [ code ] tags, not quote.

Looks like you are trying to run hashcat in a VM ? . hashcat requires direct access to the gpu hardware which your VM doesn't offer.

In theory you could try to passthrough a physical gpu to the virtual machine, but how to do that depends on the host and the VM software.
VMware ESXi and Vsphere do seem to support that, but vmware workstation doesn't .

You may have to wait with running hashcat until you have a bare metal archlinux install .

Re: [Solved] Hashcat GPU

Ah okay, so should I wait for a version/package that allows GPU display for workstation VMs?

anyway sorry for not using quote and not [ code ]

Re: [Solved] Hashcat GPU

From what I found the problem can't be solved in VMware Workstation .  WS runs on multiple platforms / OSes  and atleast one of them doesn't suppport passing physical devices to a virtual machine.

You should look at alternatives for hashcat, start at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/List_o … d_auditing .
