Scala moved out of repo?

Was scala moved out of the repo into an AUR package?  How'd that happen?  I'm trying to follow the instructions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Scala but I don't see the package in the release.  I do see it in an AUR and the packagebuild looks good.

Hello. Yes, scala has been removed from community during the spring cleanup. Currently it must be built manually, for example using the scala PKGBUILD in AUR.

A suitable warning has been added to the wiki page now. Perhaps someone, who uses Scala, will fix the entire section at some point.

From my small corner Scala seems like a very big thing, possibly the most popular functional language for the JVM, and gaining moment every week now. What's the rationale for its removal from the community repository?

Pointing me in the right direction (e.g. documented criteria for doing so) would be enough for me, if that's what's available. Thanks in advance.

I don't think anyone really used the scala package; I've never seen anyone use the scala compiler directly in anything but toy examples.  SBT and mill still are in community

And I guess many Scala developers on Unix get their Scala tools through sdkman or coursier, or use IntelliJ which ships JDKs and SBT.
