[SOLVED] LXAppearance GTK-3 file

When trying to use lxappearance to change the gtk themes, I'm getting an error spat back out at me any time I try and use it:

 GLib-CRITICAL **: 01:13:33.755: g_key_file_set_string: assertion 'string != NULL' failed

On my virtual machine which I've set up for testing though, I can't replicate this at all. Essentially, my virtual machine is as close to my actual system as it can be.

I'm not sure if its relevant or not, but I've noticed something odd with the config file for the .ini that lxappearance spawns whenever its worked with: /home/user/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini . It has no preview to its contents as opposed to the one on my VM where it doesn't spam this error back at me.

Would does this mean and how can I solve it? I am trying to resolve the error message.

It has no preview to its contents

file /home/user/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
cat /home/user/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini

There's possibly some binary garbage in this.

I don't see anything abnormal in there, but I found out what is generating the error code. It's lxsession. While the error isn't detrimental, it is still nice to know what was generating it. I am not sure why having lxsession causes this error. I found this out when I was moving my xinitrc file during some maintenance.

As for the issue with the previews in the file manager, wine seems to overwrite this.
