Hi! First time poster so I ll probably be doing something wrong but here it goes.
As the title says, I get a weird black box around dialogs opened inside nautilus.
I use awesomewm and I suspect it has something to do with the issue because they are floating windows, however, this doesn't happen to me with any other application that opens floating windows ![]()
I don't know any output to post so I ll just attach an image of the issue: https://imgur.com/a/RXfOuwC
Thanks for the help in advance!

That's the window shadow - in absence of a compositor and alpha support, it's all black.
Try to run picom or xcompmgr.
Idk. whether this is meanwhile hardcoded or gnome stuff is still supposed to be able to deal w/ uncomposited environments.
Might simply be the gtk theme, https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic. … 9#p2134731 but (also) for ~/.config/gtk-4.0/

You are right, I installed and run picom and now the black box turned into some border. I am guessing thats the default border written by picom or something like that so I ll work on a config to remove it.
Thank you very much!

The black thing isn't added by picom (as evidenced by it being there before picom was even installed) but the window itself.
Picom just interprets the alpha-channel, turning the otherwise completely black area into some translucent gradient during the render.
You'll have to change the GTK theme and/or remove the shaodw box in the gtk config.

Installing the picom fixes the black box surroundings the menus but same problem happens in Google-chrome and other chromium based browser and Everytime i hover on the screen the shadow becames more darker and darker it seems like the shadow from the previous hover is not clearing up ? How can i fix that ???

Black frames on what element? The chromium browsers paint a couple of things entirely inside the window and ouside the reach or relevance of a compositor.
