TTY login only appears on external monitor after replugging cable

Hi, I have a laptop that I connect to an external monitor when at home. I use TTY to login. When I boot up my laptop with the external monitor connected the TTY login screen will not show up on the external monitor. It only appears if I replug the monitor cable. The monitor is a Dell U2713HM. However, I have tried another monitor, namely the Lenovo ThinkVision T24i-10, which does not have this problem. Here the TTY login screen appears just fine.

Is there a way to make the TTY login screen show on the Dell U2713HM monitor without having to replug the cable?

My laptop is a Lenovo Legion Y540-15IRH 81SX
