[SOLVED] Problems with Arch/xfce4/lightdm

Hello,

I have a problem with my Linux installation. Since a few days my xfce desktop is spinning. The archsystem was freshly installed with xfce only in February.
I can no longer move windows. In almost all windows the X to close is missing in the title bar.
When Firefox is open, I can't type anything in the terminal. All input ends up in the Firefox address bar.
When I click on Settings/Window Manager in the menu, nothing starts. Other settings dialogs work though.
I don't know what is going on and where to start looking. The whole thing started after a major update via the package manager.

Martin

It sounds like your window manager may have crashed, or is not running. Check your process list for xfwm4, and if its missing, start it in a terminal window to see if it generates any errors:

xfwm4 --replace
