External USB NVMe drive only half way recognized on USB 3.2 gen 2 port

Hi!

970 EVO plus in an external 3.2gen2-capable Icy Box m.2 case. This is what it look like when I plug it into an ordinary blue-colored 3.1 port on a Zenith Extreme:

sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Synchronizing SCSI cache
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Synchronize Cache(10) failed: Result: hostbyte=DID_ERROR driverbyte=DRIVER_OK
usb 6-3: new SuperSpeed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd
usb 6-3: New USB device found, idVendor=152d, idProduct=0583, bcdDevice=31.08
usb 6-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 6-3: Product: USB Storage Device
usb 6-3: Manufacturer: JMicron
usb 6-3: SerialNumber: DD564198838E3
scsi host12: uas
scsi 12:0:0:0: Direct-Access Samsung SSD 970 EVO 3108 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6
sd 12:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg5 type 0
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] 3907029168 512-byte logical blocks: (2.00 TB/1.82 TiB)
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] 4096-byte physical blocks
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Write Protect is off
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Mode Sense: 5f 00 00 08
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Optimal transfer size 33553920 bytes not a multiple of physical block size (4096 bytes)
 sdf: sdf1
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Attached SCSI disk

And then it appears to work fine. This is what it looks like when I plug it into the 3.2gen2 port:

sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Synchronizing SCSI cache
sd 12:0:0:0: [sdf] Synchronize Cache(10) failed: Result: hostbyte=DID_ERROR driverbyte=DRIVER_OK

And that's it. /dev/sdf doesn't even show up...

Any idea?

thx
