I have a laptop with a dedicated Nvidia GPU. After the 6.3.1 kernel update, I am getting a black screen on startup. I use SDDM with BSPWM but the problem persists even after swapping SDDM with another display manager or with startx. The driver package I am using is nvidia-dkms. The driver was last updated on 23 March while the latest kernel update was on 1 May. I tried switching from nvidia-dkms to nvidia to see if there is incompatibility with the kernel but that didn't help either.

You're using some config to run on the nvidia device but the only output is attached to the intel one.
Is this deliberate, can you run on the intel chip (regular prime), what does the nvidia config look like and does it help to explicitly redirect the output?

No I couldn't run either Intel or Nvidia which is why I attached both.
I have found the solution, for some reason the AUR packages dependent on Python were not properly rebuilt after the update. The black screen was specifically related to optimus-manager built with Python 3.10 instead of Python 3.11. I rebuilt them with the following command and it worked.
paru -S --rebuild --noconfirm $(paru -Qqo /usr/lib/python3.10/)
yay -S --rebuild --noconfirm $(yay -Qqo /usr/lib/python3.10/)

You probably don't want to use optimus-manager at all as the system is eligible for full powering down of the nvidia GPU in the regular prime setup.

That definitely seems to be the better setup. I will try to remove optimus-manager and make a full switch to using the regular prime setup.
