Touchpad click laptop not working properly

I am having issues with clicking on the touchpad of my laptop. It happens regularly that it doesn't register when I try to click the touchpad button and that I have to click a lot of times before it registers (and then sometimes it registers a double click instead of just a single click). The output of

libinput list-devices

for the touchpad is

Device: SYNA30B1:00 06CB:CE07 Touchpad
Kernel: /dev/input/event12
Group: 6
Seat: seat0, default
Size: 106x58mm
Capabilities: pointer gesture
Tap-to-click: disabled
Tap-and-drag: enabled
Tap drag lock: disabled
Left-handed: disabled
Nat.scrolling: disabled
Middle emulation: disabled
Calibration: n/a
Scroll methods: *two-finger edge
Click methods: *button-areas clickfinger
Disable-w-typing: enabled
Disable-w-trackpointing: enabled
Accel profiles: flat *adaptive custom
Rotation: n/a

Does anyone have any tips for how to debug why this is happening and hopefully also fix/improve it?
