I am guessing it is safe and recommended to delete
/var/lib/pacman/sync/community.*
now. Or is there a reason not to?
Routinely doing
pacman -Sc
will do the needful. (along with other cleanups)

Double 'c' will remove all package files. Possibly not what one normally wants.

Right, clean will even ask for unused databases. I totally forgot about that. Thanks.

Congratulations to the arch packager team - the migration went very well on the new system. Amazingly well planned in details. and executed to the highest standard we could have expected. A few minor niggles as things settled down but it is working great now. I continue to be a strong supporter of the way Arch is run and looked after.
