I managed to really mess up my connection to the wireless network.
Behavior:
I am able to connect to the Internet through wireless for about a minute at a time, and no more. I do so by clicking on the "KDE" icon, selecting my wireless, entering the password, and waiting for t
My KDE reports: Limited connectivity. This device appears to be connected to a network but is unable to reach the Internet.
Cause:
I was trying to move to NetworkManager, but I set up something badly.

Here is the output of `systemctl list-units`:

Please use

tags, the bbs predates markdown by a decade or so. Edit your post in this regard.
Then please post the output of
find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -fEdit: though you seem to be running wpa_supplicant and iwd concurrently in some capacity.
Edit #2: if you want to use iwd as NM backend, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Networ … Fi_backend - still post the output of the above command.

I waited for an hour for any answer, removed everything that seemed to be network-related from my system, then followed the instructions in https://www.linuxandubuntu.com/home/how … g-terminal
This gives me a solution that, at least, gives network connectivity (even if it doesn't allow KDE to control the network.)
Here is the result of the command on my system as it exists now:
# find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -f

You're now using netctl, if you want a KDE gadget supported network stack, use networkmanager.
Your problem was that you're running multiple services concurrently - as long as you stick w/ one, you're gonna be fine.
I waited for an hour for any answer

I absolutely understand. Thank you for helping. I appreciate it. I understand that you are a volunteer.
I will try turning off netctl, turning on NetworkManager, getting the results of `find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -f`, and seeing whether it can work.

Here is the result of me shutting off netctl, then starting NetworkManager:
[root@hummingbird ~]# systemctl start NetworkManager.service
[root@hummingbird ~]# ls

[root@hummingbird ~]# sh requested-command.sh

remote-fs.target | multi-user.target.wants
systemd-resolved.service | sysinit.target.wants
xdg-user-dirs-update.service | default.target.wants
[root@hummingbird ~]# systemctl stop NetworkManager.serviceOffline
Starting the service will not enable it, disabling netctl will not stop it (depending on how you did that)
And the main question is of course whether you can use the network w/ *only* NetworkManager enabled.
Offline
That is exactly what I would like to solve...
Offline
What?
Disable the netctl service, enable networkmanager, reboot - does the network work?
There's really no magic to it, both use wpa_supplicant by default and your initial attempt was spoiled (at least) by the iwd interference.
Offline
I am a newbie. My current understanding:
systemctl startwill make a service run for now, but does not enable it when you restart the system.
systemctl enablewill make a service turn on when you reboot, but it does not turn it on now.
Do you have any ideas why
systemctl start NetworkManagerdid not cause NetworkManager to start?
Offline
did not cause NetworkManager to start?
I'm pretty sure it does, the command I asked for lists enabled services, not running ones.
Offline
Okay. I enabled NetworkManager, rebooted. Here is my terminal session.
(requested-command is
find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -f)

Since you had a bunch of wifi services running, are you using a wireless network? Did you create a NM profile for it?
Either see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Networ … i_examples or use the KDE connection manager GUI.

The device isn't available because it's in use (probably from netctl)
Use netctl to stop the connection, not systemctl to stop netctl, make sure the device is down before you attempt to connect to it w/ nmcli (the value inside the "<>" matters)

Got it.
I rebooted completely.
The good news is that I can see the local networks.

Edit: if there're any special characters in the password you might have to quote or escape it w/ nmcli.
Just use the KDE GUI?

I'm now getting something different:
[root@hummingbird chipuni]# nmcli dev wifi con "Timulty4" password "PASSWORD*GOES*HERE"
Error: Connection activation failed: IP configuration could not be reserved (no available address, timeout, etc.).My wife is streaming right now, but once she's done, I will try restarting my router.
I'm going to stop this now. Thank you very much for all of your help!

And restarting the router fixed the problem, finally.
Thank you, @seth, for your patience while I worked out this problem!
