Beryl and Java

Lo guys,
Not sure if someone mentioned this but Beryl + Java will create windows without buttons, what i did was install blackdown java from AUR and then installed the java apps (got Limewire working but i bet Jacman will to)

When you DL the PKGBUILDS for the java apps you offcause goto remove the jre dep from the file, anyway hope this helps.

Re: Beryl and Java

Hi there,

To tell you what you probebly already know Jacman won't run with blackdown jre and Beryl, it fails with following error:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: andyr/jacman/Jacman (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)

With the normal jre one gets atleast a window ehe
I hope this will help you fix the problem as i like Jacman.

Re: Beryl and Java

I'm guessing that's because Jacman uses features in Java that are not supported in Blackdown. Bugger.

Re: Beryl and Java

I had this 'empty window' issue with some Java apps and Beryl on an Ubuntu machine. What solved the problem there was

export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit

Haven't tried this in Arch though.

Re: Beryl and Java

Hi dwight,

thank you very much, setting AWT_Toolkit does the trick. All the java apps that didn't work, seem to run now with beryl...

Thank you for this "trick", it works great.
I already wanted to give up Jacman because it didn't seem to work. I think, it's the best frontend for pacman available right now (thanks at the "maker")...
