wine installation failure

slackware user gone arch; I like it so far however I hit a bump when installing wine.

following instructions from http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wine,
problems occur during the first command.

$pacman -Sy wine
:: Syncronizing pacage databases...
:: current is up to date
:: extra is up to date
wine: not found in sync db

moving forward I then attempted to download wine and install from source and received the following during the make process:

make[2]: *** [casemap.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory ...
make[1]: *** [wine] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving director ...
make: *** [libs] Error 2

Compilation failed, aborting install.

I realize that there are usually details above this output that are more descriptive, however it is a rather long list of copiler warnings regarding  __stdcall__ attribute being ignored. this list was skipped to save reading and space.

I am running arch64 and have not compiled and installed any other packages by hand. I have the base system with xorg7.1 and the deps for wine as listed here: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/8958/
the same error occurs with wine-0.9.24 and wine 0.9.25 source packages

i have done several google searches broad and specific as well as through this forum and did not find anything, so sorry ahead of time if the solution is posted elsewhere

Re: wine installation failure

I don't know if there are issues with Wine and 64bit, so maybe you could simply request a Arch64 package for wine in the Arch64 forum?

Re: wine installation failure

thank you, i just may do that as I have been told on IRC that there is not a wine for arch64 currently supported

[edit]
so, for those of you out there who run into my problem, i have no real solution other than patience or diligent effort in fixing it yourself. I stopped trying for the sake of time and replaced arch64 with the 32bit distro. it works.

Re: wine installation failure

As far as I know you need a 32-bit environment to run wine, so if you're using Arch64 you'll need to a 32-bit chroot to run wine in.
