Boot Arch from HFS+ partition and EFI partition

Recently, I have installed Arch Linux on my 2011 iMac. As stated in the Mac section of the Wiki, I have created an HFS+ partition for the bootloader instead of using an EFI partition. This way, the native Mac bootloader can recognize Arch Linux as a valid system to boot.

Since it is an external disk, I want to be able to take the disk and boot Arch Linux on any machine other than a Mac. To achieve this (with a regular UEFI), an EFI partition is required for the bootloader.

The problem is that I'm not sure if it's possible to boot the same system from two different partitions (one being HFS+ and the other EFI).

The easiest solution would be to install Arch Linux with a normal EFI partition and change the Mac's bootloader. However, it wasn't the cleanest solution for me. So, in the end, I'll probably end up installing a second system on another partition of the disk if none of this works.

I'm sorry if the question sounds silly. This issue has raised many doubts for me.

Thank you in advance for any ideas or possible solutions that I could refer to.
