Hello.
I noticed I couldn't use Cycles' hair particle system without getting Blender to freeze, forcing me to kill the process before it damns up my RAM.
It does not matter if I set the render engine to use my CPU or my GPU, or turn off some parameters : when I put on the render preview mode, the grey pre-render silhouette is shown but does not get replaced. When I want to go back to material preview, then the software starts to freeze and I must kill it.
I launched again my Blender project file with the --debug argument but I couldn't find any interesting detail in the output log file:
