First of all, I would like to extend greetings to the moderators/admins of this forum.
Second, I've been trying to install Steam on my computer using Arch Linux and I haven't been able to get it working quite correctly. I'd like to know if there's something I'm doing wrong. If a topic like this has been addressed elsewhere on the forum, I'll appreciate any directions given from there. If I'm told to forget it, then I'll probably wait until my new SSDs arrive. (Which I'll probably install Arch Linux again to one of them.)
So, yeah. That's all I have to say for this message.

What's the problem, exactly? And is it covered on the wiki page?

It's been a while since I got back to this, but I'm just learning Arch Linux as I go along.
So, I better explain.
1. I attempted to install steam using the software center and it seemed to take forever in doing so. Like, literally forever.
2. I attempted to download Steam from Valve's webpage, and I got the Debian package which is only compatible with Debian packages such as Debian, Ubuntu, and Linux Mint or Zorin. Not Arch Linux!
As for the wiki page, I haven't looked on it yet, but I will soon.

1. Don't use software centres they Don't Work on Arch Linux, use pacman.
2. The wiki should be your first port of call, not the forums.

Fine I will just use pacman, then for that.
Also, I'm going to look at the Arch Wiki, and probably refrain from posting genuine problem posts in the future.

Update:
Steam is installed on my computer now, I have studied the Arch Wiki, and I will likely not be making any more messages to here. Apparently, the issue was the pacman.conf file in my arch install.

Note that Wormzy did not deny you had a problem and the answer he gave allowed you to solve your problem yourself.
What more does one need from a technical support forum ?
Whether you will ask for help on this forum or not in the future is ofcourse your decision.
Please prepend [Solved] to the thread title (edit first post) so other people that find this thread will know your issue was solved.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I know. The thing is... I actually had to go to the Arch Wiki first. And, I still was stuck.
So, if I end up having a problem, my first port of call is by no means the Arch Linux forum. But, what that doesn't mean is that it won't be my second, or third, or possibly thereafter all the way up to last call.
Also, I suspected my default pacman.conf may also have been part of the problem.

Was the issue multilib not being enabled? Which is covered in Steam#Installation.
