Undocking My Laptop Causes KDE Graphics Problems

I have a laptop that I have docked via Thunderbolt. Contrary to the problems you would expect, things work great when docked. The second I disconnect the dock I get all kinds of graphical problems in KDE (Think Windows 98 solitaire). This leads to a situation where my laptop is great at home, but the second I want to use it away from my desk/house it becomes unusable. This also isn't just a case where the act of undocking my laptop causes issues. Even after rebooting the ghosting continues to happen. Usually, I have to redock my laptop and log off or reboot to fix the graphical issues. This has pretty much been a problem as long as I've owned the laptop.

Any idea what could be causing this and what I can do to fix this problem.
