JGC, for me beryl now works with the packages:
xf86-video-i810 1.6.5-2
xorg-server 1.1.1-4
libx11 1.1-1
libgl-dri 6.5.1-2
libxcb 1.0-2
So the new xorg-server package seems to solve my problems. Thanks for the quick fix! However, upgrading the xf86-video-i810 package to 1.7.2 breaks beryl again.

Ok, this means the 1.7.2 driver is just plain broken with Xorg 7.0. Could someone try combining the 1.6.5 driverfiles with the DRI drivers in /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri from the 1.7.2 package to see if that works?
Do you mean copy i810_dri.so, i915_dri.so and i965_dri.so from 1.7.2 package to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri ? After that I've also get:
/usr/bin/compiz: No GLXFBConfig for default depth, this isn't going to work.

JGC: I don't know if this is relevant, but I've been using the 1.7.2 i810 driver since it was released with no problems whatsoever. I had the whitescreen problem too just now, but after the latest upgrades everything is fine (with the 1.7.2 driver, although not the one you posted but my own that I compiled at release time).
