Arch Linux freezes in tty?

Hello!

I have recently install Arch Linux on my laptop, and whenever I boot Arch Linux, it freezes. I've tried reinstalling Arch, as well as

pacman -Syu

, but I get errors due to iwd not being installed yet. But before I can even check anything else, it will just freeze. Sometimes it freezes before I can even log in, and sometimes it freezes after 30 minutes. I notice that it mostly freezes when I try to type a lot or running commands. I can't even scroll through journalctl without it freezing during. Here are my specs:

Laptop: Vaio FE15 Notebook
CPU: i5-1135G7 2.40 GHz
RAM: 16 GB
Storage: NVMe 512 GB SSD

I have this laptop dual-booting Windows 11 and Arch Linux, and on Windows it seems to do fine. However, when I boot into Arch it freezes very often, and requires me to restart. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thank you!

Re: Arch Linux freezes in tty?

There was an actual bug here with Vaio notebooks and the 6.3.4-6.3.8 kernels that should be fixed for kernels after that. Make sure - by chrooting from a live system if need be - that your system/kernel is up to date.

As for the Windows dual boot, make sure fast boot is disabled, that can lead to all sorts of weirdness: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dual_b … ibernation

I have 6.1.37 currently installed. I'm guessing the first step should be to update the kernel?

I have disabled it. Same problem occurs. Freezes right after login.

Re: Arch Linux freezes in tty?

Yes, make sure your system is up to date. See https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=286167 if you care about the background of the issue.
