My system auto suspended after 15 min of inactivity as it usually does. Upon waking the PC back up, all opened windows became visually fragmented (they still functioned properly) and one of my displays became a blank screen. This is not the first time today that I woke the system up from inactivity and I did not run any updates at all today.
In my Nvidia X server settings GUI I can still see the display listed normally. In the plasma system settings GUI however the display is no longer present. When I reboot my PC it brings up the login prompt and the screen is now working fine, but once I log in with Plasma (both X11 and Wayland) the screen goes blank again.
I am using a Displayport to HDMI converter cable. It appears to be some issue with Plasma and this cable, because if I switch to a normal HDMI cable then the issue disappears. Unfortunately I need to get this conversion cable working again because NVIDIA only gives you one HDMI port on their GPUs and I am running a quad display setup and my display is only HDMI input. It strikes me as very odd that this would happen all of the sudden after a simple session suspension. Any tips on how I could troubleshoot such an issue?
