Re: [SOLVED] LTS Kernel update system hangs on Started Host Name

I'm not frustrated and this has nothing to do w/ the kernel.
The system is misconfigured and you don't understand basic bash or bash-adjacent syntax.

Idk what you mean by "arched based systems" (likely some derivate) but don't see how you can lack this incredibly basic knowledge after using any POSIX system for years. Macintosh users tend to know that. And they type with their mouse and a virtual keyboard… (well, some of them wink

I started with Manjaro around 2018, and then Arco. Arco had many scripts so I didn't really need to mess with anything.

I recently left EndeavorOS, and installed arch from youtube video instructions and the wiki.

Before that I used SUSE and Debian/Linux Mint, with barley using the terminal and configuring my machines.

It wasn't until I found Arch & Arch Based Distros that I started to take the plunge, get into the command line, edit configs, ect.

Again, sorry for any of your wasted time. But I learned some valuable lessons today, and  now everything is working, with the upgraded kernel.

I really appreciate you working with me!

Officially SOLVED!

Re: [SOLVED] LTS Kernel update system hangs on Started Host Name

installed arch from youtube video instructions

That's worse than the archinstall script and technically disqualifies you from this forum. (Seriously, https://bbs.archlinux.org/misc.php?action=rules )

Work yourself through the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Install_guide and at least pretend you'd be installing the system. You'll learn a lot.
Also https://ryanstutorials.net/bash-scripti … script.php - using linux w/o some bash basics means you'll copypaste a lot of shit from the internet into a terminal w/o any idea what it does - what is only one troll away from a disaster.

Watching a video alongside the Wiki? Damn...that is what it says though

I completely configured AwesomeWM, and SDDM, & use VIM pretty exclusively, but I have alot more to learn. And like I mentioned, 99% of issues I figure out just by googling and searching the Arch Wiki. I spent a good 4 hours before I came to the forums.

I'm glad at least this resource (this thread) will be available to someone like me in the future.

I 100% Agree

I have another Laptop I'm going to install Arch on. This time, I won't use anything other than the wiki. It'll be good practice.
