KDE Kile reports LaTeX not functioning properly on first startup?

I just installed Kile and on first startup it checks the installed LaTeX components. It reports a "critical failure" becasue /usr/bin/latex is not working. When I call /usr/bin/latex it return the following:

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.25 (TeX Live 2023/Arch Linux) (preloaded format=latex)
 restricted \write18 enabled.

I have configured nothing and would expect that Kile installs all necessary dependencies. Am I missing something? System is up to date an I have never used LaTeX before.

Please post the full error message that kile outputs
