I was using a µSD and it was not recognized at first..then aftera few hours maybe after a reboot also it was recognized...then I need to use it again and it was not recognized. What could it be?

Re: µSD sometimes recognized, sometimes not

Could be anything, as you provided zero information.
If you want an educated guess, at least show us your dmesg output, lsblk and other relevant information.

On lsblk, it should show mmbclk0, but it's not there.

Re: µSD sometimes recognized, sometimes not

When it's not working, get the output of the following:

uname -a
pacman -Q linux

If the versions differ, reboot.

I will do that, indeed i have been using stable and lts kernels, now I am using stable, and got both upgrades this morning. Willl check if it gets read.
Edit: just tried and it worked with:

uname -a:
Linux labtop 6.1.39-1-lts #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed, 19 Jul 2023 17:58:31 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

but, pacman -Q linux gives me:

linux 6.4.4.arch1-1

Re: µSD sometimes recognized, sometimes not

Yes, it can continue working after an upgrade if the module was already loaded prior to the upgrade.  So having it work while the versions differ is not informative.  The question is whether it ever fails to work when the versions are the same - and I'm pretty sure the answer would be "no".

You need to reboot after any kernel upgrade in order to use any hardware that had not yet been in used up to that time.  (technically any hardware relying on loadable kernel modules).

Why I got different version? on uname -a and pacman -Q linux, those were both the newly updated versions of lts and stable.
Thanks I am aware of rebooting after every kernel upgrade to load the new kernel.
I reboot into into stable 6.4.4 and it reads the µSD.

Re: µSD sometimes recognized, sometimes not

You're comparing LTS and main kernel in #5

Next time it *doesn't* work, run and post

uname -a
pacman -Qs kernel

Then run

dmesg -W

insert the SD card and post the resulting dmesg output.

There's no trace of you "using" an MMC device in the provided dmesg at all, is it supposed to cover any such attempt? When?
