Apologies for the clumsy subject line, it was hard to be succinct with this one.
I am using archiso to build a custom iso. The desktop is xfce4. I copied the xfce .config folder I want to use into archlive/airootfs/etc/skel and a wallpaper I wanted to use into archlive/airootfs/usr/share/backgrounds/xfce (the directory the .config points to).
When I put the image on a usb and boot from that, everything works as expected: the background specified is displayed, the panel and other configuration changes are present.
When I boot the image as a VM with gnome boxes, the panel configuration changes are persistent, but the wallpaper is not. It displays the default xfce background. I'm going to try a couple other ways to set the wallpaper on boot with my archiso configuration, but I am very curious as to why there would be different behavior with the same iso in boxes vs. booting from a usb. Anyone have any ideas about this?
The only difference I can see is that the custom panel options are all contained within the user's home directory, and the background is located in /usr/ ... I'm more curious about why it's working differently than the wallpaper itself...
Thanks
