Cant connect bluetooth headphones

When I try to connect my bluetooth headphones I keep getting the setup failed error in the graphical interface, and when trying to pair in bluetoothctl I keep getting this:

 Failed to pair: org.bluez.Error.AuthenticationFailed 

I have tried disconnecting, untrusting, removing the device, then scanning and trying to pair and connect again to no avail.
Also downloaded pulseaudio-bluetooth package, it didnt help.
Reset the headphones themselves and repeated everything, still nothing.

All other devices I have connect without a problem including android phone, bluetooth speaker and other pair of earphones.

The most I get is a brief notification that shows the device is connected and after a split second its already disconnected. The headphones connect to the other devices without a problem.
