gnome terminal problem [solved]

When I try to open gnome terminal I get this error (translated):

"There was a problem starting the underlaying process for this terminal"

It worked fine yesterday and I have not done any updates since. The terminal window itself opens but i can't type anything. When I try to open root-terminal I get this:

"Failed to run gnome-terminal as user root. Failed to fork new process: No such file or directory"

I have also tried installing aterm and xterm but they don't even start...
