Hello, fellow Arch Linux users!
I've been facing an issue with launching programs in GNOME Wayland. After logging in, I experience a noticeable delay when launching any program for the first time. However, subsequent launches of the same program work fine without any delays.
I'm running Arch Linux with GNOME Shell version 44.3.
Description of the issue:
The delay occurs only after logging in.
The problem affects all programs in general.
After the initial launch of a program, subsequent launches run smoothly without any delays.
What I've tried so far:
I cleared the GNOME cache using the command rm -rf ~/.cache, but it didn't resolve the issue.
I checked the autostart applications and ensured that only necessary programs are listed.
My hardware configuration:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H
RAM: 16 GB 3200 MHz
Graphics card: GPU: AMD ATI Radeon Vega Series / Radeon Vega Mobile Series and NVIDIA GeForce MX550
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this issue, please share them. I would greatly appreciate any assistance!
Thank you very much!

Simply sounds like slow disk. What's the disk? If subsequent starts of a single program are fast after initial start sounds like caches getting loaded.
Though on a different note and seeing that nvidia card, likely the EGL loading order leading to activating the nvidia card unnecessarily, check: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 7#p2094847
