The log shows that it did start.  In fact it ran to completition without error: it did everything you asked it to.  So the question is what did you ask it to do?  What WM/DE do you (try to) run and how do you start it (DE, startx, etc)?i

[ 260.915] (II) Platform probe for /sys/devices/platform/simple-framebuffer.0/drm/card0

In case you terminated the server because you ended up w/ a black screen, add "nvidia_drm.modeset=1" to the kernel commandline.

It's not me who terminated the server, it shutdown itself. But i still have a black screen for a second.
Do you still want that i add your parameter to the kernel ? If yes, can you tell me how to do it ?

Re: Xorg won't start

Post your ~/.xinitrc.  Xorg appears to be running just fine, openbox is failing (or is not actually running if something is wrong with your xinitrc).

Yes, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters on how.

Still post xinitrc and possibly also  ~/.xsession-errors

Ok, i think i have found the error
I have done something like this:

#!/bin/sh
exec xbindkeys &
openbox &
tint2 &
flameshot &
polybar &
setxkbmap fr

Like this, anything work but when i remove the setxkbmap fr, everything work fine.
And it's strange because it worked well a few days ago

Re: Xorg won't start

That's not a functional xinitrc…

# session activation
if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ] ; then
    for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/?*.sh ; do
        [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
    done
    unset f
fi

xbindkeys &
tint2 &
flameshot &
polybar &
setxkbmap fr
exec openbox

And please read up what the "&" and the "exec" mean and do.

Re: Xorg won't start

Specifically backgrounding openbox is the most direct cause of the current failure.  There are a number of other oddities in your xinitrc - seth posted the full solution - but backgrounding openbox is what resulted in the complete inability to run it as you intended.

The combination of "exec" and "&" on the first line doesn't make any sense, though technically it'd probably not cause any real problems.  I'm pretty sure the "&" backgrounding operator takes precedence over the "exec", so that first line spawns a new shell from which it runs "exec xbindkeys" and then it continues on to the rest of the xinitrc (as opposed to exec'ing "xbindkeys &" which would result in nothing else in the xinitrc being read).  But this is confusing, unnecessary, and could be fragile.  So just don't combine these.

Re: Xorg won't start

It looks like a copy/paste error - perhaps you inserted a quote / backtick on line three.

Re: Xorg won't start

Please don't post screenshots.

cat ~/.xinitrc | curl -F 'f:1=<-' ix.io

You might still want to put a proper shebang at the top.

Yes.
Do you use startx or ly to run this?

stat /bin/sh
echo $SHELL

Re: Xorg won't start

That's absolutely impossible, you *cannot* get the same output as in your previous screenshot and the xinitrc unconditionally waits for 5 minutes before it terminates, even if openbox crashes or sth. like that.

Re: Xorg won't start

And that's not at all the same output just as seth rightly predicted.

So now we (mostly) know what I suspected right from the start: openbox is failing.  If that's the case, you need to check openbox's logs if it has any, or create one by changing the openbox line in your xinitrc to:

openbox > ~/openbox.log 2>&1

EDIT: though it is odd that you are returned to the prompt in less than 5 minutes.  Also please include the output of the following:

coredumpctl list

And i see nothing in openbox.log.

Re: Xorg won't start

You don't see anything in there or is it empty?
Install and run "xterm" instead of openbox in your xinitrc, you'll hopefully get an X11 session w/ an xterm in there.
Move the mouse into it, you should then be able to start "openbox" from there and we'll hopefully get ahead.

openbox.log is empty

After installing xterm and putting it in .xinitrc, still the same problem...
I have try also with mutter to be sure and same problem

But with these args after openbox, i have a message like this after startx:

Closing log file.on.xinit: connection to X server lostitrc: line14: 1 command not fo

(I can't see more)
