Screens start flashing randomly

I am dual booting Windows 10 and Arch and have been having this issue on both systems,  so I think this is a hardware related issue. When I am playing Counter Strike: Global offensive, my computer will randomly go unresponsive with the monitors flashing rapidly. I have tried refreshing the display drivers with Win+Shift+Ctrl+B on Windows to no avail, and I have been unable to make the system responsive on arch in any way. I am forced to do a hard reset of the system.

I am unable to reproduce this issue consistently, but it has pretty much only occurred to me when playing CS:GO, usually after dying in the game and after returning to the title screen after finishing a match. It has also occurred to me when I had CS:GO running on one monitor and than interacted with a window on my other monitor. The circumstances in which it has occurred in both Windows 10 and arch are the same.

So far, I have tried to reseat all of the components of my computer, updating and reinstalling my graphics drivers as well as downgrading them to a previous version, and to turn off one monitor but the issue persisted. It doesn't look to me like there is anything physically wrong with my GPU or any other components, other than being somewhat dirty; cleaning them made no difference still.

I have tried to look for an error log on both Windows and Arch but have not been able to find one. I suppose I may have missed it. What I am trying to do now as the next step in the troubleshooting process is to find an error log or make it so one is created the next time the error occurs. Where would I find an error log generated by this issue? I consider this to most likely be a GPU related issue, or potentially a storage related issue since I have multiple drives in my computer. It might be a RAM issue too although I have not seen any physical problems with my ram sticks. If I could see an error log to go off of it would make this process much less complicated.

Computer specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660
RAM: 16gb
Storage: 1 250gb, 2 500gb and 1 1000gb drives, all ssds
Monitors: I have a 1680x1050 and a 1920x1080 monitor, both 60hz. I am using multiple different types of cables and adapters on my monitors which I believe might be contributing to this issue.

Re: Screens start flashing randomly

I am dual booting Windows 10

3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

I have been unable to make the system responsive on arch in any way. I am forced to do a hard reset of the system.

Try to switch to a different VT (ctrl+alt+F2,F3,…) and if that doesn't work use https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Keyboa … el_(SysRq)
Rebooting w/ the power button will lose all logs.

I have tried to look for an error log on both Windows and Arch but have not been able to find one.

Please post your complete system journal for the boot after the flashes:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

If you've to reboot (w/ the magic sysrq) make that "… -b -1 …" for the previous boot.

But

I am using multiple different types of cables and adapters on my monitors which I believe might be contributing to this issue.

I suppose those *are* the issue, any chance to simplify that? At least get rid of any adapters?
