If you're using xwayland anyways, why are you trying to use an ancient-browser? Just get the proper url to use with the appletviewer.

I'm on x11 now and I have the same problem. It is not related to xwayland or x11 and i'm not testing that specific applet but the plugin itself. I'm trying to investigate why it doesn't work anymore. Thanks

I know you're on x11, so why is the appletviewer not an option??
You're trying to investigate why a many-years-old abandonded bit of software doesn't work: it's not even expected to work.
But so be it - I'll leave you to your archaeology experiments.

Please, do use appletviewer. Even if you do get the old browser to work with the plugin, using a decades old browser is not a good way forward, if only for security reasons.

It gets a chance for sure, but I don't have access to that intranet and when I get it I need a functioning environment, so the applet viewer is my last choice at the moment. Then for the sake of knowledge I also am curious about this plugin that refuses to work as it is supposed to

So, if you need Java NPAPI working in 2023, this is what worked for me: palemoon + jdk or jre (jdk 8-251 or jre 8-261, then with Jdk also the appletviewer can be a viable option).
I uploaded those pkgs Here
Hope it's going to help ![]()
