I just uploaded floppies for Lowarch.
They are barely tested, since I don't have many opportunities to test them myself (only have one machine with working floppy drive).
The ftp install is also still untested, as far as I know. I'll be grateful to anyone who'd want to test it. I only have a wireless internet connection, and my wireless card isn't supported by either the cd or floppy installer, so I can't try it.

Uhm... your site seems to be down :?

Yes, it was down for a while, because the isp did something strange. It's up again now. I'm going to change the url to www.lowarch.org but I need to learn some redirecting skills for it to work

And you should update the link in your signature

Just tried the floppy installation.
I can't configure properly my pcmcia ethernet card, because I need cardmgr which isn't included in the floppies, to all appearances :?

cardmrg has been change to pccardctl, and that's included
But I also had problems configuring my pcmcia network card. But I never tried to configure it myself before, since I think udev takes care of it. I might try to make udev fit into the installer somehow.

Thank you for the information, I tried pcmcia devices only with 2.4 kernels until now, I never tried a 2.6 kernel on this laptop, so I didn't know that cardmgr is now deprecated
EDIT:
I tried with pccardctl but it can't show me any pcmcia device.
"pccardctl ls" displays me nothing, albeit I load the pcmcia module with modprobe :?
Perhaps, the kernel in the floppies doesn't support my CardBus.
I'll try with the CD version

You need to modprobe the driver for your pcmcia bus as well. It's probably (hopefully) one of these:
i82092.ko
pd6729.ko
tcic.ko
i82365.ko
yenta_socket.ko
This is just a list of what's in the pcmcia driver directory, they might not all be pcmcia bus drivers. My old laptop uses the i82365.ko module.

Uhm... It might be yenta. I'll try.
EDIT:
Now pccardctl recognizes the CardBus and displays me that there is a card on it. But the installer can't configure it. I know my card is managed by the 3c574_cs module, so I tried to do a "modprobe 3c574_cs", and after that it doesn't display anything, as if it's all OK.
But the card is always unknown for pccardctl, and obviously the installer too doesn't recognize it :?
The 3c574_cs module is included? Or not? :?:

The driver is there. But 16 bit pcmcia cards seem to be tricky. I have one too that I can't get working. It works after install, though, but then udev sets everything up.
I'll investigate this further, and let you know if I solve the problem. I'm planning to put udev into the installer, but it'll take a while before I come to that.

Ok, I stay tuned
