[solved] BTRFS drive disconnects, I/O error

Hello, for the last few weeks, I've noticed my 2TB HDD will sometimes become unusable until reboot, this seems random but it always happens when I play War Thunder. When this happens, will seem to be read only, but is actually not readable. If I use fdisk to see my disks I see /dev/sda1 (the drive in question) is missing. I can umount, but cannot re-mount the drive until reboot.

The entire drive is formatted with btrfs, it is not encrypted.
I have tried using btrfs-check to check for errors, but it did not find any.
I also re-located war thunder to my ssd, but today I got another I/O error/disk becoming unusuable while playing.

I have never troubleshooted something like this before, so any resources or places to look etc would be appreciated.

Could be a hardware problem (loose cable, defective harddisk, ...).

What is the output of  "sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda"?

Last night I tried playing a different game on Windows and I had a different drive disconnecting issue so I don't think this is a Linux related issue.

I took my power supply to a pc repair shop to get it tested and it passed.
I noticed it seems like both the drives disconnect when this issue occurs. I when putting my pc back together I realized the power cables for the hard drives are a daisy chain so its all one single cable which would explain the power issue with both drives if it wasn't a power supply issue.

Anyways I've replaced the cable and so far no issues despite trying to make it trigger again. I'm going to tentatively mark this as solved. Sometimes the issue really can just be a cable that goes bad after 5 years.
